Crews respond to hazmat situation in Tarrant
It happened just before 4 a.m. Friday at the CSX Boyles Yard
Emergency officials responded to a hazmat situation in Tarrant Friday morning.
Authorities were called to the CSX Boyles Yard just before 4 a.m. Friday, after reports that a train car split in half carrying sulfuric acid.
At one point, Birmingham and Tarrant emergency crews were on standby to see if they were needed. However, officials on the scene say CSX hazmat crews are handling the spill that happened on the railroad company’s private property.
Authorities said because of the cold weather, the spill does not pose a threat to anyone nearby.
