HAZMATTERS: Birmingham Fire and Rescue
Today, we take a look at the HAZMATTERS from Birmingham Fire and Rescue, from Birmingham, Alabama. These municipal responders out of Jefferson County Alabama are staffed full time around the city. A full staff of 30, who also run assignments on other trucks, protect a population of 250,000.
As part of their response area, the crew faces many potential challenges. Some of which include major highways, 3 hospitals, and even biosafety Level 3 labs. These biomedical facilities include work on microbes that can cause serious or potentially lethal disease. The crews stay well up to date with multiple dedicated training days throughout their week
