Cheshire Fire and Rescue responds to chemical spill




Homes are being evacuated after reports of a chemical spill in Ellesmere Port this morning.

Eight fire crews are currently at the Vauxhall Motors site on North Road, part of which has been cordoned off for safety reasons.

Emergency services are in attendance after receiving reports of a liquid spillage at the site.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to concerns just after 10.30am.

A spokesperson said: “Firefighters have been called to reports of an incident involving a liquid spillage at Vauxhall Motors Ltd on North Road in Ellesmere Port… The incident is believed to involve two chemicals which have spilt.

“An inner cordon has now been set up at the premise for safety.

“Neighbouring properties are currently being evacuated as a precaution and police are in attendance.”
