Crews respond to tank battery fire near Midland, TX

HMN-Two oil tankers unloading at the site are believed to have caused the fire. One driver was pronounced dead on scene.

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) – Emergency crews responded to a tank battery fire at Farm-To-Market 1788 South at West County Road 160 Tuesday afternoon.

According to Midland County Fire Marshal Dale Little, two 18-wheelers carrying oil caught fire while unloading on site.

One driver was pronounced dead on scene, a second driver, originally taken to Midland Memorial Hospital, has been airlifted to Lubbock, and a third walked away without injury.

The victims have not been identified but are expected to be named by tomorrow morning.
