Firefighters on scene of suspected Bristol drug lab


BRISTOL – The Bristol Fire Department and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection are on the scene of a hazmat emergency at 460 Emmett St. in Bristol.

Local police reported just after 12:30 p.m. that there was a strong chemical odor and that chemicals were possibly present when they entered an apartment unit, where they suspected a drug lab was in operation.

DEEP is taking air samples to determine if the building is safe for occupancy and overseeing proper handling and packing of any suspected chemicals at the site.

The CSP Statewide Narcotic Task Force is also investigating.

There are no reports of injuries.
