HAZMATTERS: Aiken County HazMat
Today we would like to recognize the dedicated responders in Aiken County, South Carolina. Serving a population of around 162,000, this combination team is ready and equipped to respond to any HazMat situation that may arise. In addition to standard road and railway transportation hazards that the team faces, they also have a very unique challenge they must remained trained and ready for. Inside of the team’s response area is a nuclear facility that was built to refine nuclear materials. The team uses a two trailer system to mitigate calls, one being for equipment needed, and the other, a PPE trailer that also provides a place for the team to dress out, and prepare for their job
Today’s HAZMATTERS is brought to you by HAZSIM.
HazSim Pro training system has been used to train across the U.S since 2011. Trainers in HazMat and Confined Space realized that ‘tapping the student on the shoulder’ was NOT effective training. This system uses NO hazardous materials and although may not look exactly like your front line meter, shows the important data which the all students needs to learn to ‘react’ to.
