Describe how you train?

We are required to meet the Virginia Department of Emergency Managements minimum recertification of 24 hours/year in specific areas. We far exceed this by delivering 12 four hour monthly drills to each shift through out the year. The same drill is conducted three consecutive days during a shifts regular work day. Drills consist of round robin style where the Technician will spend about an hour at four different stations such as a meter station, research station, tactical control station or a decon station. Or we will conduct a short scenario based drill.

Tell us about your apparatus?

The main Hazmat Unit is a 2002 Hackney roll up door tractor drawn trailer. Units assigned to the Hazmat Team are Engine 101 and Engine 109 2010 Pierce Arrows, Rescue 109 a 2010 Pierce Arrow, and Medic 101 a 2010 Horton.
