Hazmatters: Williamson County Hazmat

HazmattersToday’s Hazmatters are from the Williamson County Hazmat team.  This county Hazmat team serves a population of about 550,000 with many varying types of hazards ranging from farming sites, to heavy industrial complexes. With a full staff of 80, the team has 20 responders staffed on call ready to roll.

Upon initial response, the team deploys a heavy duty truck and gooseneck trailer concept.  One of these set ups can respond from either of the following cities: Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, or Taylor.  These setups have proved very cost efficient and provide the responders with office space, and plenty of temperature controlled storage for all of the equipment.

HazSim Pro training system has been used to train across the U.S since 2011. Trainers in HazMat and Confined Space realized that ‘tapping the student on the shoulder’ was NOT effective training. This system uses NO hazardous materials and although may not look exactly like your front line meter, shows the important data which the all students needs to learn to ‘react’ to.
