Two men were critically burned early Friday morning, Dec. 2, in what police are calling a honey oil extraction explosion in San Bernardino.
“The two men escaped the home and they both sustained significant burns and were trying to relieve themselves of those burns in a fountain at the location,” San Bernardino police Lt. Mike Madden said Friday.
Both men were taken to a hospital.
Around 1:30 a.m., San Bernardino County Fire Department officials were called to a home at 2494 Duffy Street for a fire, according to Madden.
Firefighters found the home on fire and the two injured men in the fountain.
“They also found numerous containers of butane bottles and large amounts of packaged marijuana,” Madden said.
Fire personnel called police as well as the San Bernardino County sheriff’s Bomb and Arson Detail to investigate.
Initial evidence points to a possibly honey oil lab explosion, Madden said.
The incident is still under investigation.
