Officers hospitalized after responding to reports of a deceased person


UPDATE: reports that the man inside the room was killed by an unknown chemical. However, it is unclear if the chemical was used for suicide or if the death was accidental.


HMN-Officers were hospitalized after responding to a Georgia hotel in reference to a deceased person. HAZMAT units are testing items from inside the apartment to identify what made the officers sick. (11 alive)

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Several police officers were hospitalized Saturday afternoon after responding to reports of a deceased person inside a Memorial Drive hotel.

The incident happened on the third floor of the United Suites hotel at 4649 Memorial Drive. The officers are reported to be in stable condition.

Some of the motel rooms have been evacuated, and hazmat units are testing the items in the room to determine how the officers got sick.

The deceased is reported to be a male, but no details have been released as to his cause of death.
