BEAUMONT, CA — A construction crew in Beaumont hit an oil line on Wednesday, prompting an hours-long hazmat response and road closure in town.
The incident was first reported around 11:40 a.m. in the area of 4th Street and California, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Police subsequently closed off California between Louis Estrada and 3rd.
Officials say the line belongs to the railroad.
“Fire department resources have been released and the leak has been mitigated,” the fire department reported at 2:40 p.m. “The incident has been turned over to Riverside County Environmental Health. All road closures have been lifted.”
