PA Haz-Mat Incident Requires Bomb Squad Response

Fire crews in Pennsylvania responded to a report of a hazardous materials incident in town, and arrived on scene to find a substance that was deemed to be a bomb squad incident, and requested a response from near by Hershey, PA to assess the situation.

11/30/18: HFD was dispatched for a hazardous materials incident at 448 Thirwell Ave. Crews arrived on scene and found a small picric acid bandage case, while on scene another call came in for 672 Grant St for additional picric acid found in a basement. Crews notified EMA, and PA State Police, and a bomb squad from Hershey was dispatched to respond.  The technicians secured the packages, and they were taken to the dog park where a small charge safely destroyed the packages.”

Hazelton Fire Also released a “Thank You”, to all involved for a safe removal and disposal.
