The Hazmat Nation has no borders as it does not matter what part of the world you are from, the chemical properties and mission are the same.  This edition of Hazmatters was submitted by Thomas Long of the Terrebonne Parish Rapid Assessment Team in Houma LA .  Their team is a dedicated ‘HazMat Team’ staffed by on-call personnel which serves a population of 111,000.  The team was started in 2000 and has 26 members.  The team is also a regional asset and can be called upon by neighboring Parishes.

Team Stats:The PRAT trains monthly on the first Monday of each month. The Louisiana State Police HazMat section re-certifies our HazMat Technicians in September of each year per OSHA. LSP comes to Terrebonne Parish and provides two classes one on the South side of the Parish and one on the North side of the Parish.Number of Team Members (total):26Date Team Started:2000

‘We currently use a retired ambulance that was donated to Terrebonne Parish after hurricane Katrina. It is a 1995 Marque ambulance with an International 4700 cab.’
