Two arrested after mobile meth lab discovered near USC



COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) – Two people have been arrested after a mobile meth lab was discovered during a traffic stop on the USC campus

Emergency crews blocked off the roadway at Heyward and Sumter Streets Wednesday afternoon.

USC Chief Communications Officer Wes Hickman said the Columbia Fire Hazmat Unit, along with university police, Columbia Police, SLED and DEA responded the scene.

The driver and the passenger of the vehicle were charged with manufacturing of methamphetamine. The driver was also charged with driving under suspension and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Neither person arrested were USC students, according to Hickman.

USC Police continue to investigate the matter.
