This lean, four-person, safety training and inspection company teaches on a range of topics including hazmat skills and regulatory inspection preparation. The two main consultants who lead the team are Ted Sommer, CEO, and Marc McClure. Sommer has experience as a corporate safety director, and McClure has been involved in safety for more than 25 years.
The company uses a hands-on approach to safety and risk management, which is continuously adapted to meet changing industry standards.
Riskill employs a specialized training trailer that is meant to provide a realistic and immersive learning environment. It is equipped with hands-on training resources including hazmat suits, fire extinguishers, a simulated piping tunnel and a confined space entry point through the roof.
The company says the training trailer helps it tailor its training programs to each client’s needs. Riskill uses real tools that their clients’ employees will have access to on their sites to ensure they understand how to properly use what is available to them.
The win Riskill is most proud of was a four-day HAZWOPER class for Hy-Vee in Chariton, Iowa. The program enhanced workplace safety and empowered the Hy-Vee team to respond effectively to hazardous situations.
Growth is Raskill’s biggest challenge. Demand for the company’s services is growing. With that, they plan to add another trainer to their ranks.
