Chemtrec to Offer Cleanup, Remediation

Chemtrec is expanding its services to offer cleanup and remediation, accessible with just one call to the existing toll-free number.

“Once there is a release, the clock is ticking,” said Andrew H. LaVanway, Chemtrec’s chief executive. “With 50 plus years of being the first call for hazardous materials incidents, Chemtrec is well-equipped to expedite and simplify emergency response efforts, allowing cleanup and remediation processes to be initiated quickly, minimizing the severity of unintended releases.”

This service addresses the need for simple, expedited response to the common small or incidental hazardous materials releases. It is designed to provide expert guidance and immediate on-the-ground response for incidents involving small spills and limited quantity hazardous materials.

While such spills are often contained internally before the arrival of hazmat responders or spill contractors, Chemtrec says the new service aims to streamline the management of these incidents by offering the following:

  • Expedient Emergency Response Triage – Immediate assessment and management of the situation during the initial moments of an emergency call.
  • Accurate Information Gathering – Detailed assessment of the release and its impact on the environment.
  • Timely Dispatch – Prompt deployment of qualified local remediation contractor.
  • Regulatory Reporting – Comprehensive handling of all required communications and reports.
  • Incident Review and Documentation – Thorough investigation and documentation of the incident, including interviews, photographic evidence, and report development.
  • Regulatory and Local Agency Coordination – Effective communication with regulatory agencies, local emergency responders, and claims agents.
  • Access to Subject Matter Experts – 24/7 availability of highly experienced professionals.
  • Full Oversight – End-to-end management of the incident, including waste disposal and regulatory closure.

“The addition of cleanup services allows us to help customers handle the most common incidents under an existing contract, speaking to one contact, with full visibility throughout. It means less material on the ground for a shorter time, reinforcing our dedication to safety, efficiency, and community stewardship,” said LaVanway.
