The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Services will be hosting seven NFPA 470 Hazardous Materials Rail Specialist Training courses on site in the first quarter of 2025.
Tuition and house are free. Get the complete schedule here.
The classes are 20 hours, and, upon completion, students are eligible to take the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board) written exam and skills testing.
The class is geared for technician-level personnel expected to respond to incidents and provide technical support, oversight for product removal, and moving of damaged tank cars, cargo tanks, and intermodal tanks and act as a liaison between outside resources and technicians. TEEX recommends that students have prior hazardous materials technician training.
Due to the strenuous nature of class activities, participants should secure a professional evaluation of their physical condition prior to enrolling in this course.
TEEX is also offering two NFPA 470 Hazmat Transportation Specialist Training courses in 2025. Those classes are 50 hours, Pro Board eligible, and held on campus.
Those classes will be held March 17-21 and again October 27-31 at the TEEX campus in College Station, Texas. Students are expected to attend 100% of the classes and field exercises.Complete online registration on the TEEX website.
