Port Protector 2024: LAFD and Long Beach Fire Team Up for Hazmat Training
Last week, Los Angeles Fire Department’s Hazmat Task Force 48 joined Long Beach Fire’s Hazmat 24 and Hazmat 19 for the Port Protector 2024 exercise at the Port of Los Angeles. This joint training simulated a hazardous materials incident involving a toxic chemical release from a container ship, putting the teams’ response capabilities to the test.
Key Objectives
The exercise focused on:
– Inter-agency Coordination: Ensuring smooth collaboration between teams.
– Hazmat Response: Testing detection, containment, and mitigation techniques.
