A hazmat crew is at The Meadows Apartments on South Cedar Crest Boulevard in Emmaus early Wednesday afternoon.

According to Detective Sgt. Jason Apgar, a package came in the mail just before noon to the leasing office that contained a white powder.

The Lehigh County Special Operations unit arrived and firefighters and paramedics donned protective gear and oxygen masks before examining the package. Police sealed off the area.

Three people who were near the package are receiving medical observation as a precaution.

After about an hour, the scene was cleared. Apgar said investigators determined that the powder “was not a dangerous substance,” but said the investigation will continue.

No one has been injured.
